Kean Newman Prayer
Adapted from “The Mission Of My Life” and “Jesus Prayer”
by Blessed Cardinal John Henry Newman

God, you have created me to do some definite service.
You have committed some work to me which
You have not committed to another.
I have my mission.

I may never know it in this life, but I am a link in a chain,
a bond of connection between persons.
You have created me for a purpose.

Dear Jesus, flood my soul with your spirit and life.
Possess my whole being so utterly that my life
may only be a radiance of yours.
Shine through me so that every soul I come
in contact with may feel your presence in my soul.

I will be an angel of peace,
a preacher of truth in my own place.
I will trust You, wherever and whatever I am,
because I can never be thrown away.
If I am in sickness, sorrow, or pain,
let me serve you through my weakness.

Let me preach you without preaching, not by words
but by example, the evident fullness of the love
my heart bears for You.

Amen.
